When award winning and pioneering Brighton restaurant Chilli Pickle went into administration late last year there were fears for its future. The business seemed to be going from strength to strength after expanding from the Lanes, into its current premises in myhotel in 2010. But opening a new restaurant in Guildford in 2018 appears to have created financial difficulties for the operation.
Staff and loyal customers were overjoyed in January this year when owners, Alun and Dawn Sperring, announced that they had been able to buy the business out of administration and continue trading, with the support of myhotel founder, Andreas Thrasyvoulou, family and industry peers. The new financing has been able to secure its future, the couple have said.
Clearly relieved that the financial ordeal was over, Alun told the Brighton Argus: “We are so excited about 2020 and what the future holds. We have learnt so much and are so much stronger after all that has happened. I am working on new dishes for the new year and Dawn and I are fully focused on keeping The Chilli Pickle as an integral part of the Brighton dining scene.”
